VLOG 26th November 2025.
Let us revisit the 19th Century, a period when Europe and Britain were characterized by the fervor of the Industrial Revolution. Into the Modern: Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston runs from 14 November 2025 to 1 March 2026, and is organised by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in partnership with National Gallery Singapore.
In today’s era of big data, we frequently reference the concept known as the ‘Muesli Effect’; this phenomenon occurs when the most substantial pieces of information are prioritized, leaving smaller details overlooked, akin to how little nuggets remain lodged in a cereal box. Thus, the Muesli Effect in this exhibition emphasizes the common public misconception that only the artwork of Claude Monet is being showcased. In this exhibition, there are more than 100 artworks, among which 17 are Monet’s. While Monet undoubtedly receives considerable attention, it is imperative to acknowledge other remarkable artists such as Edgar Degas, Édouard Manet, Eugène Boudin, Paul Cézanne, Berthe Morisot, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Frits Thaulow, among others.
A careful examination of this exhibition reveals intriguing connections between the styles of Camille Pissarro and Claude Monet. Pissarro was known as “The Father of Impressionism”.
The inaugural VLOG guides viewers through the gallery, commencing at the Parliament Place entrance and proceeding to the ticket counter, accompanied by visual representations of artworks across three gallery rooms. The exhibition comprises seven categories, with the initial gallery marked by a label on its glass doors stating: “Start of the Exhibition.” For those who may be pressed for time and are admirers of Claude Monet’s work, it is worth noting that his pieces are primarily housed within category seven, situated in the final room.
Take a moment to navigate through the slideshow provided below. Should you be unfamiliar with the works of Claude Monet, it may prove challenging to identify his artworks.
