We express our profound sorrow at the demise of the venerable artist and educator, Chua Mia Tee (born in Shantou, China, 1931 – passed away in Singapore, 2026). Although our editorial team did not have the privilege of engaging with Mr. Chua personally, his unwavering passion for art and Singapore, along with his reflections on the industrial era from the 1950s to the 1970s, resonate profoundly. His artistic contributions have imparted a lasting imprint on the recollections of the younger generation, vividly illustrating Singapore’s past and its evolution. Notable pieces of his work are exhibited at the National Gallery Singapore.
